Surrey with a Fringe on Top

One  of the finer dining experiences in our area lies right in Emmitsburg on South Seton Ave.  Complete with its own history, the building housing the Carriage House Inn was built in 1857, and is on the National Registry for Historic Places. Originally the warehouse for the Maxwell and Zimmerman Feed Store, the building became a broom factory after the turn of the century, and later a bus depot. The first restaurant to take up residence in the historic building opened in 1943, and was named The White House.  Decades later, the building was purchased by the Hance family, and The Carriage House Inn was born. I highly recommend it for a meal or even the sunday buffet.  It also is a very photogenic building.

PS- I did have to do a double take but it is a real person in the lower right window, I did not catch a ghost.  (I saw her clearing the table when I took the shot)  November 16, 2011
