Little Farm on the Prairie

The McLean farm (sometimes spelled McClean) lies north of Gettysburg along Mummasburg Road at the foot of Oak Hill.  Moses McLean was a Gettysburg attorney who had served in the U.S. Congress from 1843 until 1845. The farm is now owned by the National Park Service.

I wanted to make sure the barn really popped out from the trees so I stood across the hiway on top of the hill and captured it.  With the late afternoon sun shining on the west wall, and the rest of the farm resting in the shadows, the natural lighting really makes this shot. July 13, 2011
