Some Senior Love

So with today being valentines I was hoping to find something that reflected this. Low and behold, hung in the doors of this barber shop on main street in Emmitsburg, I found the best I could in the time allotted.  What I really like about this is the barber pole.  Growing up as a kid, my dad use to always take me to the barbers, and every shop had a pole. Now barber poles, in origin, are rather gruesome in nature, as they symbolized blood soaked bandages around a white pole.  This indicated, in Medieval times, the service of bloodletting as barbers were actual surgeons. IN the late 1100’s physicians were separated and barbers became more of what they are today.  Happy Valentines Day!  Feb 14, 2011
