Frederick MD has a nickname of Clustered Spires due to the number of steeples one can see in the skyline. Well Emmitsburg can give Frederick a run for its money with its own clustered spires. This happens to be one of my favorites you can see in the skyline. This is the Gothic style steeple for the Emmitsburg Presbyterian church, which is over 250 years old. The church’s beginnings date to 1760. The actual building was moved to this location in 1839 and in 1879 the building was torn down and this building was built. A 1909 fire gutted the main building but the steeple remained and still does. Another blue sky, after a couple of gray days, allows the steeple to stand out. Feb 10, 2011
